It is nice to meet you. My name is Fumiko Watanabe (芙美子渡辺). Just a fun fact, Japanese names has meanings on it. My first name means “beautiful child” in Japanese while my surname, Wanatabe refers to “ferry side.” I am born in Nirasaki, Yamanashi Prefecture before I moved here in Jacksonville, Florida three years ago to study Humanities at Jacksonville University.
I can hardly speak English, but I love having adventures, so I know in myself that I want to study in another country. I chose JAX because some of my Japanese friends live here and JU has excellent Social Science Curriculum. At first, I struggled with my day to day activities mostly because of the language barrier, but what thing that I can say is that the locals of Jacksonville are one of the kindest people I ever met. They always patiently help me with a smile, and I never had any negative experience with them,
I am delighted to say that Jacksonville is my second home, and I really love staying here.
